PM Modi Highlights Khadi Startups, Drug Rehabilitation Portal ‘Manas’ in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

In his latest address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the emergence of khadi startups and the vibrant handloom industry across India. He highlighted the government’s efforts to promote these sectors, leading to a significant increase in Khadi sales and creating employment opportunities, particularly for women.

PM Modi emphasized the role of startups and AI-backed initiatives in popularizing the handloom industry, mentioning companies like Kosha AI, Handloom India, D-Junk, Novatax, and Brahmaputra Fables. He also announced that the turnover of the Khadi Village Industry has crossed ₹1.5 lakh crore for the first time, marking a 400% increase.

Moving on to another pressing issue, the prime minister discussed the recent launch of ‘Manas’, a digital platform and drug rehabilitation centre aimed at tackling drug addiction. He emphasized the importance of this initiative in combating drug abuse and urged people to use the toll-free helpline 1933 for advice and information. He also highlighted the confidentiality of information shared with MANAS.

PM Modi also expressed his pride in the rising tiger population and the increase in forest cover, attributing this progress to widespread public participation. He encouraged people to celebrate Independence Day by uploading selfies with the national flag on the government website ‘harghartiranga.com’.

Continuing his address, PM Modi praised the recent inclusion of Charaideo Maidam of Assam in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. He explained the historical significance of the site as the first capital of the Ahom dynasty and highlighted its potential to boost tourism.

Finally, the prime minister acknowledged the achievements of Indian students who won four gold medals and one silver medal at the international mathematics Olympiad. He discussed their strategies for success and commended their dedication and hard work.
