Starbucks Unveils New Afternoon Tea Set in Tokyo Roastery

Starbucks, known for its coffee, is branching out in Tokyo with a new afternoon tea experience. The Roastery Pasticcini Flight, available from October 1st to 31st, offers a delightful combination of autumn-inspired pastries and a selection of teas. The set, priced at 6,050 yen ($41.94), includes three new pastries: Mele, Rum Raisin Fromage, and Vignolata, each showcasing unique flavors and textures. Tea enthusiasts can choose from Kagabo Hojicha, Spice Apple Cider, Citrus Lavender Sage, and Rwandan Black Tea. This new offering comes at a time when Starbucks is undergoing significant changes. Recent leadership changes have seen Michael Conway, the North American CEO, step down after a short stint. New CEO Brian Niccol has outlined a vision to re-establish Starbucks as a community coffeehouse, focusing on improving the in-store experience. This includes emphasizing comfortable seating and distinguishing between “to-go” and “for-here” services. While Niccol’s vision aims to reconnect Starbucks with its roots, his decision to commute between his California home and Seattle headquarters via company jet has raised environmental concerns. Additionally, Starbucks’ Malaysian operator, Berjaya Food Bhd., recently reported a significant loss attributed to anti-Israel boycotts, highlighting the various challenges the company faces globally. Despite these challenges, Starbucks continues to innovate and expand, offering a diverse array of experiences for its customers.
