Autumn in Seoul: Outdoor Festivals Bring Vibrant Culture and Entertainment

As autumn descends upon South Korea, a vibrant wave of outdoor festivals sweeps across the nation, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in cultural events and celebrations under the cool autumn sky. Seoul, in particular, is buzzing with activity, offering a diverse array of experiences for everyone to enjoy.

For families seeking an evening of entertainment, the Seoul Children’s Grand Park in Gwangjin-gu provides a delightful escape. Their Four Seasons Garden will host classic movie screenings, including “The Sound of Music” on September 28 and “The Magic Flute” on September 29, both starting at 6 p.m. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Visitors can embrace the autumn vibes with nighttime yoga sessions on October 9, followed by a stargazing event on October 10, offering a glimpse into the celestial wonders.

Book lovers can find their own haven at Gilkkot Children’s Library in northern Gangseo-gu. This outdoor library experience will enchant young readers with magic shows, traditional games like “biseokchigi,” and other engaging outdoor activities, all scheduled to conclude by the end of September.

For a more literary retreat, Gomdalle Culture and Welfare Center in southeastern Gangseo-gu transforms into an outdoor library on September 29. Visitors can indulge in reading, play board games, craft bookmarks and mood lights for camping, and enjoy delicious camping food – a perfect blend of leisure and creativity.

Over in Gangnam-gu, the popular Jamwon Hangang Park and Sinsa-dong Garosu-gil are set to host this year’s Light and Sound Festival. Starting on Wednesday, a 360-meter stretch of Garosu-gil will be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone, offering a picnic zone, interactive activities, and bustling outdoor markets. The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony at Jamwon Hangang Park at 7 p.m., featuring free fireworks, busking performances, and live concerts, setting the stage for a captivating evening.

Throughout the festival, spectacular light installations will illuminate the park every evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. until October 6, casting a magical glow across the cityscape. Whether you seek cultural immersion, family entertainment, or simply a chance to enjoy the beauty of autumn under the stars, Seoul’s outdoor festivals provide an unforgettable experience. So, pack your picnic baskets, grab your loved ones, and head out to explore the vibrant autumn celebrations in the heart of Seoul!
