Virgin Australia Partners with Sabre to Revolutionize Airline Retailing with AI-Powered SabreMosaic

In a move that promises to reshape the future of airline retailing, Virgin Australia, one of Australia’s largest airlines, has joined forces with Sabre Corporation to implement SabreMosaic, an AI-powered platform designed to transform the way airlines interact with customers. This partnership signifies a major step forward for both companies, positioning Virgin Australia as a leader in the transition to offer-and-order-based retailing, while introducing SabreMosaic to the market.

SabreMosaic, powered by Google’s advanced AI technology, offers airlines a comprehensive suite of solutions encompassing the entire travel lifecycle, from Offer to Order, Settle, and Delivery. This innovative platform empowers airlines to create dynamic, personalized offers, streamline transactions, and manage complex travel needs with ease. Its data intelligence toolkit provides airlines with the insights they need to make informed decisions, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.

“We’re excited to partner with Virgin Australia to launch SabreMosaic, our cutting-edge platform built to transform airline retailing,” said Roshan Mendis, Chief Commercial Officer, Sabre Travel Solutions. “This collaboration will empower Virgin Australia to provide a personalized, dynamic travel experience, setting a new industry standard.”

As the flagship customer, Virgin Australia is adopting a comprehensive suite of solutions within SabreMosaic, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards modern retailing. “Our goal is to be Australia’s most loved airline by providing customers with choice and a superior guest experience,” said David Hogarth, Chief Information Officer of Virgin Australia. “The SabreMosaic platform will allow us to optimize offers, enhance customer interactions, and gain a competitive edge in the market.”

With a modular approach, SabreMosaic allows Virgin Australia to operate in a hybrid environment as they transition to a full Offer and Order ecosystem. The airline will integrate over 40 products across the retail lifecycle, with the implementation of the Offer Management suite—SabreMosaic Air Price IQTM and SabreMosaic Ancillary IQTM—already underway.

This partnership extends beyond the implementation of SabreMosaic. Virgin Australia and Sabre have also expanded their existing airline IT and global distribution system (GDS) agreements. This ensures the continued distribution of Virgin Australia’s traditional content and future New Distribution Capability (NDC) content through Sabre’s global network of travel buyers. Virgin Australia will also continue to utilize SabreSonic PSS and other Sabre solutions during its transition to the Offer and Order environment.

“Virgin Australia has been instrumental in the development of SabreMosaic, contributing valuable insights to shape the platform’s capabilities,” said Garry Wiseman, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Sabre Travel Solutions.

This strategic partnership with Sabre positions Virgin Australia at the forefront of modern airline retailing, enabling them to deliver a next-generation travel experience to their customers, characterized by personalization, dynamic offers, and seamless transactions. The collaboration signifies a commitment to innovation from both companies, promising a future where airline retailing is redefined by technology and customer-centricity.
