Suspect in Bengaluru Woman’s Dismemberment Found Dead in Odisha

The man accused of killing and dismembering a Bengaluru woman earlier this month, Muktiranjan Pratap Ray, was found dead in Odisha on Wednesday. A chilling discovery revealed a ‘suicide note’ left behind by the suspect, indicating that Mahalakshmi was killed following a heated altercation with him at her residence in Vyalikaval. Further investigation unearthed a diary, where Ray confessed to the murder and the subsequent gruesome dismemberment of the woman’s body into “59 pieces”.

The couple’s tragic story unfolded with their meeting while working in a garment shop. Their relationship, however, was fraught with tension. Police reports suggest that Mahalakshmi was pressuring Ray to marry her, leading to constant arguments and ultimately, a fatal confrontation. Preliminary investigation points to the suspect’s short temper as a contributing factor to the violence that took Mahalakshmi’s life.

Following the horrific crime, Ray’s actions were unsettling. He contacted his younger brother, instructing him to vacate their rented house immediately. He didn’t provide a reason for the abrupt request but promised further details upon their meeting. The chilling detail of his actions and the confession in the diary paint a harrowing picture of the events leading up to the woman’s death. Police are now actively investigating the incident, striving to piece together the events that culminated in this horrific tragedy.
