Delhi Police Constable Killed in Road Rage Incident

In a tragic incident of road rage, a Delhi Police constable lost his life after being hit by a car driven recklessly. The incident occurred on Saturday night in the Nagaloi area of Delhi when Constable Sandeep, a 30-year-old officer, was on his way to the Nangloi Police Station on his motorcycle.

Sandeep noticed a WagonR car being driven erratically and asked the driver to slow down. However, the driver, instead of heeding the constable’s warning, sped up and hit Sandeep’s motorcycle from behind, dragging him for approximately 10 meters before colliding with another vehicle. The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage installed in the area.

“He took a left turn and a WagonR tried to cross him at high speed. There was probably a verbal exchange between him and the driver. When Sandeep drove on, the vehicle accelerated and hit his bike from behind. He was dragged for about 10 meters and hit another vehicle. He suffered serious head injuries,” senior police officer Jimmy Chiram told NRTV.

After the accident, Sandeep was rushed to Sonia Hospital and later transferred to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, where he was pronounced dead. At the time of the accident, the constable was reportedly not in uniform.

The car involved in the accident had two occupants who, after the incident, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Delhi Police have seized the car and are actively searching for the accused. A case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against the accused.

Sandeep is survived by his mother, wife, and a five-year-old son.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in Bengaluru in August, where a man was killed after his motorcycle was rammed by a car. The incident occurred in the Vidyaranyapura area after a dispute escalated into road rage. The biker was allegedly chased through the streets of Bengaluru before being hit from behind. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with that case.

These tragic incidents highlight the dangers of road rage and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents.
