Bank Holidays: Long Weekend Alert!
Are you ready for a long weekend? Yeh weekend thoda zyada long hone wala hai! Banks in many states are closing from Friday, May 9th to Monday, May 12th. So, plan your banking accordingly!
Buddha Purnima Bank Holiday
Monday, May 12th is Buddha Purnima, a big holiday. Because of this, banks in 14 states will be shut. States include: Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Delhi, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh. This means both public and private banks will be closed.
Why so many holidays?
It’s not just Buddha Purnima. May 10th was the second Saturday, which is a holiday for banks as per RBI rules. Sunday, May 11th, is a regular weekend holiday. So, it’s a long bank holiday weekend!
