A man initially claiming to be a passenger has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including impaired driving, in connection with a fatal crash on Highway 115 south of Peterborough, Ontario, in December 2023. The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Corey Neil, was allegedly driving the vehicle when it collided with a commercial motor vehicle, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old woman. Neil faces numerous charges related to both the fatal crash and a subsequent incident on May 15th, when he was found driving while under suspension and prohibited.

Authorities caution that Cote is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. This development follows the arrests earlier this week of a 17-year-old youth and a 24-year-old man in connection with Regina’s first homicide of 2024. The victim, Everett Wolfe Roberts-Orr, succumbed to his injuries after being shot at a residence on Sherwood Drive. Isaiah James Dustyhorn, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder, while the unnamed youth faces charges of second-degree murder and failure to comply.

Residents in Bancroft, Ontario, spent Thursday cleaning up after a beaver dam break flooded sections of the town on Wednesday evening. Bancroft has experienced springtime flooding in the past, often due to snowmelt and spring rains impacting the Gull River, but the beaver dam break has caused significant flooding this year.
Five RCMP officers were found to have acted reasonably when they shot and killed a 27-year-old man on Highway 2 near Leduc, Alberta, in May 2020. The man, who had previously fired at police officers and a civilian in Blackfalds, pointed a gun at an officer after his vehicle was stopped by a spike belt. The officers fired a total of 22 shots, seven of which struck the man. An autopsy determined that the man died from multiple gunshot wounds and had consumed cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol.
