Exro Technologies’ Coil Driver® Technology Recognized by Stellantis for Innovation

Exro Technologies Inc., a leading clean-technology company specializing in electric propulsion systems for e-mobility, has reached a significant milestone in its collaboration with Stellantis N.V., a global automotive leader. After 14 months of confidential development under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), Exro’s proprietary Coil Driver® technology has successfully integrated into Stellantis’ next-generation electric powertrains. This accomplishment marks a pivotal step forward in the partnership as both companies work towards potential applications in Stellantis’ passenger vehicles.

Exro’s dedication to innovation has not gone unnoticed. The company has been recognized as a finalist for the Best Supplier Award in the Innovation category at the prestigious Stellantis Supplier Awards 2024. This nomination underscores the transformative potential of Exro’s Coil Driver® technology within the automotive industry.

Over the past 14 months, Exro and Stellantis have engaged in a collaborative innovation program to explore the capabilities of the Coil Driver® technology for various applications within Stellantis’ vehicle lineup. The lifting of the NDA signifies a major achievement for the program, demonstrating successful progress through multiple technical, performance, and cost study milestones.

“Stellantis pushed us to evolve the Exro Coil Driver® technology and prove the need to disrupt the passenger EV propulsion systems as they exist today,” said Exro Chief Technology Officer Eric Hustedt. “They challenged us to demonstrate how our coil-switching inverter technology holds the potential to enhance system efficiency and power, while also holding the potential to significantly reduce cost and accelerate the adoption of EVs globally.”

The Stellantis Supplier Awards ceremony, held in Turin, Italy, celebrated the achievements of top-performing suppliers from around the globe. Exro’s nomination highlights the company’s dedication to setting industry standards for quality, performance, and customer satisfaction. Stellantis’ Senior Vice President of Global Purchasing Programs, Teresa Thiele, shared, “The innovation award honors suppliers that have created a feature with the potential of being a brand identifier or a market changer — an innovation that fulfills the needs of the customer and positively impacts the brand or market position of our Stellantis vehicles, and is safe, affordable, and sustainable. Exro was nominated for its expertise in innovative motor control technology, which significantly enhanced our electrified motor design, improved performance, and reduced costs, demonstrating the commitment to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the passenger car market.”

Exro Technologies remains committed to supporting Stellantis’ vision of a transformative future in mobility. As a leading clean technology company, Exro is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that advance electric propulsion systems and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, contributing to a more sustainable future for transportation.
