Travelers at Miami International Airport experienced an unexpected event on Independence Day. A broken pipe in Concourse G led to a green liquid leaking from the ceiling, creating fluorescent puddles on the floor. Despite the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that no flight delays occurred.
Airport officials swiftly isolated the affected area and commenced cleanup efforts. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified the leaked liquid as glycol, a common industrial compound found in various consumer products such as antifreeze and cosmetics. While generally considered safe, the CDC advises that glycol can be harmful if ingested.
Miami-Dade County officials are investigating the cause of the pipe break. Airport authorities expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience during the disruption.
