The iconic ‘John Wick’ franchise, celebrating its 10th anniversary, continues to enthrall audiences with its blend of gun-fu action and heart-stopping fight sequences. At a special screening in Los Angeles, Keanu Reeves, the star of the franchise, revealed the intense dedication he poured into his role as the stoic assassin.
During a Q&A session, Reeves candidly shared his experience, stating, “It was a gift. I had great teachers and I worked with incredibly talented actors, actresses, and stunt people, and we got to dance and collaborate and cooperate in a way that embodied these scenes. I threw up a few times, actually vomited a few times, but it was a good experience.”
The actor’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Co-star Ian McShane praised Reeves’ commitment, saying, “He always pushes the limits. So even if it’s raining for seven days straight and the lead actor says, ‘I want another take,’ no matter what he’ll go out there. Because he’s Keanu, and we’re going to do it. We’re going to do it.”
Reeves’ dedication clearly paid off. ‘John Wick’ became a box office sensation, spawning three sequels and generating over a billion dollars globally. The franchise also expanded into television with ‘The Continental: From the World of John Wick,’ a prequel series that delves into the world of the assassin’s haven. A spin-off film, ‘Ballerina,’ starring Ana de Armas, is also in the works, promising to further expand the ‘John Wick’ universe.
The franchise’s success is a testament to Reeves’ commitment and the captivating world created by director Chad Stahelski. From the adrenaline-pumping action to the intricate world-building, ‘John Wick’ has secured its place as a modern classic, leaving audiences hungry for more.
