Meghalaya Colleges Exempted from CUET for 2024 Session

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced that affiliated colleges of Central University in the state will not be required to participate in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the 2024-25 academic year. He expressed gratitude to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his support and understanding in this matter. The decision aligns with the Union Education Ministry’s exemption granted to Central Universities in Meghalaya and Nagaland from CUET for the same period. The Under Secretary of the Education Ministry, Gopal Kumar, confirmed in a letter that the UGC had approved the exemption for colleges in these states based on requests received from their respective governments. This exemption allows affiliated colleges to continue their admission procedures as per their prevailing practices, providing flexibility and accommodating local needs during the transition to CUET.
