Ola Founder Invests Big in AI Startup Krutrim
Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal is putting a lot of money, Rs 2,000 crore, into his [[AI]] startup called Krutrim. He’s even promised to invest Rs 10,000 crore more by next year. This big news came out after a Chinese AI company launched a powerful AI model at a low cost.
Krutrim AI Lab Launched
Aggarwal shared on social media about the launch of the Krutrim AI lab. They’ve been working on AI for a year and are now sharing their work with everyone. Krutrim wants to make AI better for India by focusing on Indian languages and culture.
Building India’s Largest Supercomputer
Krutrim is teaming up with Nvidia to build a supercomputer using powerful [[GPU]] cards. They plan to have it running by March and want it to be India’s biggest supercomputer by the end of the year. Aggarwal admits they’re not at the top level yet but are making good progress.
New and Improved AI Models
A new and better version of their language model, Krutrim 2, is here! They launched the first one, Krutrim 1, in January 2024. They also have other models like Chitrarth 1 (understands images and documents), Dhwani 1 (for speech translation), Vyakhyarth 1 (for search), and Krutrim Translate 1 (for text translation).
Focus on Indian AI Ecosystem
By sharing their work, Krutrim hopes other Indian AI companies can work together to build a world-class AI system in India. They even created “BharatBench” to measure how well AI works with Indian languages. Lots of technical reports and papers were also released. This is big news in the Indian tech world and everyone is watching how Krutrim grows.
