PM Modi Takes Holy Dip at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj on Wednesday to take part in the Maha Kumbh Mela, a massive spiritual and cultural event. At around 11:20 a.m., he took a holy dip at the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers meet. He also offered prayers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was with the Prime Minister during his visit. The Maha Kumbh Mela started on January 13, 2025, and will go on until February 26, 2025. Millions of people from all over the world are expected to attend.

PM’s Previous Visit and Development Projects

During a past visit to Prayagraj on December 13, 2024, PM Modi started 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore. These projects aim to make things better for people living in the area, with improvements to roads, facilities, and services.

CM Yogi Adityanath’s Participation

Earlier this week, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took a holy dip at the Mahakumbh. This was on Basant Panchami, an important festival.

Previous Incident and Global Significance

Last week, a very sad incident happened at the Kumbh Mela. A stampede occurred, resulting in the death of at least 30 people and injuries to 60 others. This happened on Mauni Amavasya when a huge number of pilgrims had gathered for a holy dip.

The Mahakumbh is a truly global event. Data shows that around 42 million pilgrims from all over the world come to the Kumbh. Many people from the UK and the US are particularly interested in attending this spiritual gathering.

Focus on Safety and Management

Authorities are working hard to make sure the Kumbh Mela is safe and well-managed. They want to avoid any more unfortunate incidents and ensure that everyone can experience this important event peacefully.
