Prayagraj Stampede: Yogi’s Strong Rebuttal to Opposition

Yogi Adityanath’s Strong Words After Prayagraj Stampede

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, launched a strong attack [[today]] against Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav. He accused them of trying to make the Prayagraj stampede incident during the Maha Kumbh Mela seem much worse than it was. The stampede, which sadly resulted in at least 30 deaths and 60 injuries on January 29th during Mauni Amavasya, one of the most important days in the Hindu calendar, happened in the Sangam area.

Accusations of Spreading Falsehoods

Adityanath said that Kharge and Yadav, along with others who oppose Sanatan Dharma, were trying to spread lies and make the Kumbh Mela look bad. He was particularly critical of Kharge’s statement in Parliament about thousands of deaths, calling it a completely false claim. He also criticized Yadav for his comments and what he perceived to be a contest between the two parties to see who could be the most critical of Sanatan Dharma.

The Government’s Response

The Chief Minister highlighted the quick response of the administration, police, and disaster response forces to help the injured. He emphasized that the government’s top priority was to minimize casualties and that aid was swiftly provided. He mentioned that many injured people had already gone home. He also stated that the government is looking into what happened and has formed a new commission to investigate.

Addressing the Criticism

Adityanath rejected claims that the government’s arrangements were insufficient, pointing out that even some victims in the hospital did not find any fault. He also corrected Yadav’s assertion about the government claiming arrangements for 100 crore people. He said that official statements need to be read carefully. He further stated that millions of devotees have already attended the Kumbh Mela which is still ongoing.

A Global Event

The Chief Minister noted the presence of the King of Bhutan at the Maha Kumbh, highlighting the event’s global significance. He stressed that the conspiracies against Sanatan Dharma would not succeed, and the government would investigate the stampede incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice. The Maha Kumbh Mela continues to attract millions of devotees, with the next major bathing event, Maghi Purnima, scheduled for February 12th. This event is expected to draw a huge crowd from across India and around the world.
