Student Suicide After JEE Exam Failure

Gorakhpur Student’s Suicide After JEE Results

Aditi Mishra, an 18-year-old engineering student, took her own life on Wednesday, February 12th. She left a heartbreaking note apologizing to her parents. A day before, the JEE exam results came out, and Aditi did not pass.

The Weight of Expectations

Aditi was a student at Momentum Coaching Center in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. She had been preparing for the JEE exam for two years. She lived at the Satyadeep Girls Hostel, sharing a room with another student. The pressure to succeed in this crucial exam can be immense, and sadly, Aditi’s story highlights the devastating impact it can have.

A Final Goodbye

On Wednesday morning, Aditi spoke to her parents. She even asked her father to recharge her mobile phone. It seemed like a normal conversation, but no one knew it would be her last. Her roommate was out at the time. When the roommate returned and found the door locked, she looked inside and found Aditi hanging. The hostel warden and the police were informed immediately.

Sorry Mummy Papa

A [[suicide]] note was found in Aditi’s room. It read, “Sorry mummy papa, forgive me… I could not do it… this was the end of our relationship… you guys don’t cry… you guys gave me a lot of love. I could not fulfill your dreams… you guys please take care of Choti… she will definitely fulfill your dreams. Your beloved daughter- Aditi.” The note reflects the immense pressure she felt and her deep regret at not meeting her parents’ expectations. It also reveals her love for her family, especially her younger sister, ‘Choti’.

The Investigation

Aditi’s parents, who live in Mishraulia village in Sant Kabir Nagar district, were informed about the tragedy. The police are investigating the incident. Abhinav Tyagi, Superintendent of Police (City), said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem.
