Congress candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes has sparked controversy by demanding dual citizenship for Goans, alleging that the Constitution was forcefully imposed on them. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant criticized Congress for this. Fernandes had discussed the issue with Rahul Gandhi in 2019, but was told it was not constitutional. Fernandes, however, argued that Goa was not a part of India when the Constitution came into effect. Archbishop Felipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao has issued a directive for Catholics to vote for secular candidates who uphold constitutional values.

Lok Sabha Speaker and BJP candidate for Kota constituency, Om Birla, has vehemently denounced the Congress for spreading misinformation among Scheduled Castes, claiming the BJP intends to alter the Constitution and curtail their rights. Birla firmly stated that the Constitution remains inviolable and the BJP has consistently protected the rights of marginalized communities.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence in his government’s development-driven campaign and predicted a victory for the Mahayuti alliance. Addressing a rally in support of Shrirang Barne, the BJP candidate from Maval constituency, Shinde highlighted the progress achieved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership at the national level and pledged to emulate the same at the state level. He also criticized the leaders of the INDIA bloc for their claims about the NDA aiming to change the constitution, accusing them of not recognizing the importance of the document.

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has accused the BJP of ‘murdering’ democracy and claimed that the party plans to change the Constitution if voted to power. Speaking to reporters at Nagpur airport, Singh alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark on the redistribution of wealth to minorities shows that he has realized he is losing the Lok Sabha elections. Singh claimed that the BJP has looted the country’s resources and given it to one of Modi’s friends. He also slammed the BJP for leveling allegations of corruption against the AAP government in Delhi over the fire at the landfill in Ghazipur.
