Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rains, Orange Alert Issued for City and Surrounding Districts

Mumbai and several districts in Maharashtra are facing an orange alert for heavy rainfall today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts of Konkan from August 24th onwards. The alert also extends to Pune and Satara in western Maharashtra and some districts in Vidarbha. This follows an earlier warning of heavy rainfall in the next 3-4 hours for Mumbai and its suburbs.

Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to experience heavy rainfall on July 27, with a yellow alert issued for the city and Thane. The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds, for the next 24 hours. Other parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Satara, are also bracing for very heavy rains, prompting an orange alert from the IMD.

Mumbai Bathed in Heavy Rains, Disrupting Transportation and Daily Life

Mumbai is experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to disruptions in transportation and causing widespread inconvenience. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert, while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced the closure of schools and colleges for Friday, July 26th. Several train services were cancelled due to waterlogging, and airlines advised passengers to allow extra travel time and check flight statuses due to delays and cancellations.
