The upcoming Mad Max prequel, Furiosa, has officially been given an R-rating by the Motion Picture Association. The film, which tells the origin story of the titular character, is set to hit theaters in May 2024.

According to the official synopsis, “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

Under the guidance of horror maestro Sam Raimi, the director of the upcoming action spectacle ‘Boy Kills World’ reveals the importance of achieving an R-rating to fully capture the film’s violent and gore-filled narrative. The film follows Boy, played by Bill Skarsgård, as he embarks on a vengeful quest, leaving a trail of creative and brutal kills in his wake. Director Moritz Mohr emphasizes the significance of delivering an over-the-top and violent experience, a vision fully supported by Raimi’s presence as a producer.
