Terre Haute Regional Airport, Indiana’s third busiest airport, has selected Woolpert to provide on-call consulting services through a five-year contract. Woolpert, a leading architecture, engineering, and construction firm, will be instrumental in supporting the airport’s ambitious plans for the future.
The partnership signifies Terre Haute Regional Airport’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and amenities to cater to its diverse operations. These include general aviation, commercial flights, military operations, and a thriving aviation program at Indiana State University.
The airport’s key initiatives include the development of a comprehensive capital improvement plan, project planning, and environmental services. Woolpert will play a crucial role in facilitating these initiatives, with a focus on future expansion.
Chris Snyder, Woolpert Vice President and Aviation Program Director, highlighted the significance of the contract, stating that it aligns with the airport’s goals to bolster infrastructure and amenities while training future aviation professionals. Snyder emphasized the importance of preparing for potential airside and landside expansion to accommodate growing demand.
Potential improvements outlined in the contract include hangar development, pavement rehabilitation and expansion, airfield lighting enhancements, safety and sustainability initiatives, FAA air traffic control tower upgrades, and the integration of advanced air mobility projects. These enhancements aim to position the airport as a leader in the evolving aviation landscape.
Snyder further emphasized the rich aviation history of Terre Haute, highlighting its strong infrastructure, available amenities, and prominent aviation tenants, including the FAA, Indiana State University, Air National Guard 181st Intelligence Wing, and aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul facilities. He concluded by expressing Woolpert’s enthusiasm to be a part of the airport’s journey towards becoming a stronger economic hub for the region.
