Xbox Streamlines Mobile Experience: Game Pass Features Merge into Main App

Get ready for a streamlined Xbox mobile experience! Microsoft has announced that Game Pass features will soon be integrated into the regular Xbox app, marking the end of the standalone Xbox Game Pass app. Starting this week, beta users will see the transition, with the full rollout planned for November. This means you’ll no longer need to juggle two apps to access all the benefits of Game Pass.

The consolidation brings a unified platform where you can search the Game Pass catalog, grab perks for Game Pass Ultimate members, and explore the vast library of games, all within the main Xbox app. It also eliminates the confusion of navigating separate apps for Game Pass and the regular Xbox Store. While native Xbox Cloud Gaming functionality isn’t yet available within the app, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can still enjoy cloud streaming through a web browser.

The move isn’t just about simplifying mobile gaming. Microsoft is also rolling out updates for PC and console players. The long-awaited Game Bar Compact Mode is now available for all PC users. This smaller version of the Game Bar, optimized for smaller screens like those on Windows handheld consoles, was previously exclusive to Xbox Insiders. With Compact Mode, you’ll have a single widget on the left side of your screen, replacing multiple widgets and offering a more streamlined experience.

PC players are also getting new tools to manage their game library. You can now easily save download space and quickly view all your games at a glance. Meanwhile, console players will benefit from a new feature that makes it easier to play games with updates and pre-downloads. While not all games support this functionality, titles like Sea of Thieves and Minecraft already have it, and more are being added. Console players will also receive notifications when games on their wishlists receive updates, are available for purchase, go on sale, or are added to the Game Pass library.

To join the beta program on mobile, download the Xbox beta app on the Google Play Store (Android) or via TestFlight (iOS). The future of Xbox gaming is becoming increasingly accessible and convenient, and these changes are just the beginning.
