YouTube Rolls Out Communities to More Creators
YouTube announced on Friday that it’s expanding its Communities feature to more creators. This latest update is all about making it easier for creators and their fans to connect. Initially launched at the Made by YouTube 2024 event, Communities offers a dedicated space on channels for creators and subscribers to interact, similar to a forum. [[Communities]] let creators and subscribers share posts, have conversations, and post updates, all within the YouTube app.
A New Hub for Connection on YouTube
This expansion comes after positive feedback from a small group of creators who tried out Communities early on. YouTube wants to be *the* place where creators and fans interact, instead of other platforms. It’s like having a built-in fan club right on your YouTube channel.
How Communities Work
The Communities feature is currently available on YouTube’s mobile app. Everyone can post in the Community section. Creators also have moderation tools to keep things appropriate and manage who can post. A new Community Hub tool helps creators monitor the space and remove any unwanted content. The Community tab is being renamed to “Posts,” but it works the same way. Think of it as a constantly updating feed of news and conversations related to the channel.
Getting Started with Communities
Communities isn’t turned on by default. Creators will get an email invite and see a banner on their channel page on mobile when they’re eligible. To enable it, go to your channel page and tap the “Go to Community” option. YouTube is rolling this feature out through invitations, so keep an eye out for those notifications.
