Zomato’s Hiring Spree: 18 of 30 Exceptional Candidates Join
Zomato CEO, Deepinder Goyal, shared an update on his Chief of Staff hiring initiative which he started in November, 2024. Out of over 18,000 applications, 30 exceptional candidates were selected, and 18 have already joined Zomato and other group companies like Blinkit.
Who Are These New Hires?

Compensation and Roles
Goyal emphasized that the selected candidates are being handsomely compensated for their value. Four of the 18 new hires are working directly with Goyal, two of whom are in Chief of Staff roles. He also clarified that nobody paid anything to work with them, addressing his previous controversial post where he mentioned a payment of Rs 20 lakh for the Chief of Staff role.
The Hiring Process
Initially, Goyal’s November 2024 post seeking a Chief of Staff caused controversy. The post mentioned that the candidate would not receive a salary for a year and instead pay Rs 20 lakh to Zomato. Later, Goyal clarified that the post was meant to filter candidates who appreciated the unique career opportunity. He further added that the Rs 20 lakh payment was never part of the plan.
