Dean Wade to Miss Remainder of Cavaliers’ First-Round Series vs. Magic

The Cleveland Cavaliers released an update on Dean Wade’s injury status on Wednesday, confirming that the forward will miss the remainder of their first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic. Wade has been sidelined since March 13 with a right knee sprain and recently underwent an MRI to assess the severity of the injury. According to the team, Wade is continuing to do daily rehab but needs more time to recover fully. He has been ruled out indefinitely, with no specific timeline for his return.

Wade’s absence is a significant blow to the Cavaliers’ defense, as he is regarded as one of their best defensive players. The fifth-year forward averaged 5.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range in 54 games this season, including 32 starts (20.5 minutes).

Early in April, there were concerns raised about Wade’s availability for the postseason. Based on the latest update, it appears that his return is unlikely in the near future. In his absence, Isaac Okoro and Georges Niang are expected to continue playing significant minutes off the bench.

Despite Wade’s absence, the Cavaliers have taken a 2-0 lead in their series against the Magic after winning both of their home games. Game 3 of the series is set to take place in Orlando on Thursday night.
