Dos Rios Ranch State Park: California’s Newest State Park to Open Soon

Surrounded by the ethereal mist hovering over the Tuolumne River, the Dos Rios Ranch Preserve near Modesto echoed with the cheerful chorus of birdsong on Monday morning. Earth Day heralds a momentous milestone in the ranch’s metamorphosis from agricultural land to a revitalized natural sanctuary.

Since 2012, River Partners, in collaboration with dedicated public, private, and nonprofit partners, has painstakingly planted over 350,000 native trees and vegetation along nearly eight miles of the San Joaquin and Tuolumne rivers, which converge at the heart of Dos Rios Ranch.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom will lead the formal dedication of Dos Rios Ranch State Park on Monday, marking it as the first new state park in almost a decade. This addition will officially become California’s 281st state park, according to the park’s manager. The long-awaited opening date for public access will be unveiled during Monday’s dedication ceremony.
