The Manitoba RCMP responded to a weapons complaint at a residence in Sandy Bay First Nation on Saturday evening. Upon arriving, officers were informed that the suspect had fled the scene.
A joint search with the Manitoba First Nation Police Service located the suspect in an open outdoor area, where he was armed with multiple weapons. A Mountie fired shots, injuring the suspect, who was later pronounced dead.
Despite attempts by police to save the suspect’s life, he succumbed to his injuries. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
