Priyanka Gandhi Denies Accusations of Congress Snatching Gold and Mangalsutras

Amidst allegations that the Congress Party plans to confiscate citizens’ mangalsutras and gold, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has vehemently denied such claims. She emphasized that the party has consistently championed women’s rights and empowerment.

During an interaction with the media, Gandhi asserted, “For the past two days, there have been baseless allegations that the Congress Party intends to seize your mangalsutras and gold. Let us recall that India has been independent for 70 years, and the Congress has governed for 55 of those years. Has anyone ever witnessed the Congress taking your gold or mangalsutras?”

Gandhi went on to highlight the sacrifices made by women in the past, particularly during the war, when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi donated her gold to support the nation. “My mother’s mangalsutra was sacrificed for the country,” she stated.

Gandhi further denounced the claims as a misrepresentation of the party’s true values. She stated, “The truth is that these individuals cannot comprehend the struggles and aspirations of women.” She emphasized that the Congress Party remains committed to empowering women and safeguarding their rights.
