Ten Candidates Remain in Contention for Ballari Lok Sabha Seat
Following the withdrawal of independent candidate B. Bhagyalakshmi, the Ballari Lok Sabha Constituency now boasts ten candidates vying for votes in the upcoming elections. Among the prominent candidates remaining in the race are B. Sriramulu from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), E. Tukaram from the Indian National Congress (INC), Valmikhi Krishnappa from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), C. Channaveer from the Karnataka Rashtra Samithi (KRS), and A. Devadas from the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist).
Preparations Underway for Smooth Elections
The Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer for Ballari, Prashant Kumar Mishra, has assured that all necessary arrangements are being made to facilitate a smooth and accessible election process on May 7th. This includes providing ample drinking water and toilet facilities at polling stations to ensure voter convenience. Additionally, specialized measures are being implemented to cater to specific groups, such as 40 Sakhi polling stations for women, 12 ethnic polling stations, eight polling stations staffed entirely by persons with disabilities, and eight theme-based and youth polling stations.
Call for Responsible Campaigning and Reporting of Malpractices
The Election Commission of India (ECI) and the National Child Rights Commission have urged citizens to refrain from using children below 18 years of age for election campaigning. Any violations of this guideline will be met with strict legal action. Voters are also encouraged to utilize the toll-free number 1950 to report any electoral malpractices observed during campaigning or on polling day.
