10 Dead in Collision of Two Malaysian Military Helicopters

The helicopters were rehearsing at a naval base in northern Perak state when the accident occurred, according to a brief statement from the navy. It confirmed that all victims, including seven crew members aboard the AW139 maritime operation helicopter produced by AgustaWestland, and three crew members on a Fennec lightweight helicopter manufactured by Airbus were pronounced dead at the scene. The remains have been sent to the hospital for identification. Local media reported that the AW139 crashed at a sports complex at the naval base, while the Fennec hit a nearby swimming pool. The navy has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
