10-Year-Old Boy Confesses to Murdering Man at Age 7

A 10-year-old boy in Nixon, Texas has admitted to killing a man when he was only 7 years old. According to authorities, the boy sneaked into the victim’s RV and shot him in the head.

The victim, Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry, 32, was found dead in his RV at Lazy J RV Park on January 18, 2022. He had been shot once in the head and had been dead for at least two days.

The boy’s confession came after he was arrested on April 12 for threatening to kill a classmate while riding on a school bus. He was taken to a psychiatric hospital in San Antonio and then later booked for terroristic threat in connection with the threat on the bus. He was being held in detention by Gonzales County Juvenile Probation.

However, the boy will not face charges for the murder of Rasberry, despite his confession. Texas state law states that a child does not have criminal culpability until they reach the age of 10. Because the boy was 7 when the shooting occurred, he cannot be charged.

The boy told investigators that he did not know Rasberry and that Rasberry had not done anything to make him angry. He said he obtained a 9mm handgun from the glove compartment of his grandfather’s vehicle and went to Rasberry’s RV, where he found the victim sleeping in his bed. He fired once, hitting Rasberry in the head, and then fired one round into a couch in the RV before leaving and returning the handgun to his grandfather’s glove box.

The handgun was found by investigators on April 12 at a pawn shop in Seguin, Texas. Forensics tests indicate that it is the gun used to shoot Rasberry.
