15-Year-Old Miles Russell Breaks Record, Competes in Korn Ferry Tour Event

At just 15 years old, Miles Russell has become the youngest golfer ever to make the cut of a Korn Ferry Tour event. The young phenom competed toe-to-toe with dozens of seasoned golfers vying for a spot on the PGA Tour.

Russell finished in a tie for 14th place at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Florida, six strokes behind the winner, Tim Widing. Nine other golfers who finished 14 under earned a paycheck of over $10,000, but as an amateur, Russell received no monetary compensation.

Despite his ineligibility to join the Korn Ferry Tour until age 18, Russell’s impressive performance earned him entry into another event, the Veritex Bank Championship in Dallas.

Russell’s accomplishment garnered attention from golf legend Phil Mickelson, who praised the young lefty on Twitter. Russell entered the tournament ranked No. 1 by the American Junior Golf Association, having won prestigious tournaments in 2022, including the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Players Championship.
