189 Cases Against Political Parties for MCC Violations in Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections

The Election Commission (EC) reported 189 cases against political parties and candidates for major violations of the model code of conduct (MCC) in the ongoing Karnataka Lok Sabha elections. Of these, 23 cases were related to hate speech, 28 for attempts to induce voters, 15 cases of misuse of religious places, and 15 cases of use of children for canvassing. The EC said that all major political parties and independent candidates were under scrutiny for MCC violations. The EC has shown zero tolerance for breaches of the MCC, deploying special observers and flying squads throughout the state to monitor such infractions. Complaints were filed by both political parties and individuals over hate speech, attempts to influence voters, misuse of religious sites and symbols, engagement of children in electoral campaigns, and various other transgressions. In the first phase of the elections, 14 segments will face polls: Udupi-Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkballapur, and Kolar.
