Unlike other music awards, the Ivor Novellos prioritize songwriting and composition, valuing the artistry of lyrics and melodies. Notable nominees include Tom Odell, Victoria Canal, Sampha, the Japanese House, and Blur for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
In the Best Album category, a distinguished lineup comprises Yussef Dayes’ contemporary jazz, Sampha’s jazz-influenced R&B, Lankum’s reimagined folk classics, CMAT’s alternative pop, and RAYE’s critically acclaimed independent release. Jungle’s ‘Back on 74,’ as well as tracks by Mette and Tyla, showcase the collaboration between British writers and international artists. The Ivor Novellos have honored the talent of some of the UK and Ireland’s greatest musicians, from the Beatles to Stormzy and Adele, since their inception in 1955.
