2024 Peterborough Musicfest Unveils Diverse Lineup for 37th Season

2024 Peterborough Musicfest Lineup Promises Diversity and Entertainment

The 2024 Peterborough Musicfest lineup is a testament to the adage ‘variety is the spice of life.’ Announced on Tuesday morning, Season 37 offers a thrilling array of live music experiences every Wednesday and Saturday from June 29 to August 17 at Del Crary Park in downtown Peterborough.

The carefully curated lineup features renowned artists representing country, rock, alternative rock, pop, and even tribute performances, ensuring something for every music lover. General manager Tracey Randall spoke about the challenges of assembling such a diverse lineup while ensuring all genres were represented.

After a challenging period during the COVID-19 pandemic, Randall expressed relief at the return of live music and the support of loyal sponsors. The festival’s economic impact is significant, with the 2023 season attracting 110,000 people and generating $4.3 million for the local economy.

Among the highly anticipated acts is the return of alternative rock band Metric on July 18, promising to be one of the festival’s biggest draws. Randall believes the band’s performance will attract a large number of music enthusiasts from both Peterborough and neighboring areas.

Season 37 kicks off on June 29 with Canadian country music star Tenille Townes. The lineup includes a diverse range of artists such as the Road Apples (a tribute band to The Tragically Hip), Aysanabee (Oji-Cree singer-songwriter), Tim Baker and Great Lake Swimmers (indie folk/rock), I Mother Earth (rock), Rêve (Canadian pop singer), Down with Webster (rap/rock), Elton Rohn (tribute to John Elton), Dwayne Gretzky (performing hits from the 1970s to 1990s), and Choir! Choir! Choir! (80’s singalong group).

A notable change this year is the return of the stage, bringing performers closer to the audience. This modification aims to enhance the overall concert experience for attendees.

Peterborough Musicfest relies on corporate sponsorships, government support, fundraising initiatives, and private donations for funding. Randall acknowledges that recruiting talent can be challenging due to rising entertainment fees and competition from for-profit festivals. However, the festival remains committed to providing free music to the Peterborough community with the support of sponsors and government grants.
