49ers: Brandon Aiyuk Trade Rumors Persist Amid Contract Impasse

In an interview on Friday, San Francisco 49ers General Manager John Lynch addressed the ongoing speculation regarding the future of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s roster. Lynch emphasized that the team is not anticipating Aiyuk’s departure and remains committed to signing him to a long-term extension.

Despite Lynch’s assurances, reports indicate that a trade is still a possibility. Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that sources within the organization, as well as league executives and coaches, believe that Purdy’s favorite receiver could be dealt to another team.

Lynch acknowledged that other teams have inquired about acquiring Aiyuk, and the 49ers are always open to listening to offers. Financial constraints are said to be a factor in the contract negotiations, with Aiyuk’s camp seeking an average salary exceeding $25 million and the 49ers unwilling to meet that demand.

Silver revealed that the 49ers have approached at least one team to gauge interest in Aiyuk. However, with a strong wide receiver draft class this year, that team’s general manager declined to pursue further discussions. Additionally, Silver noted that the 49ers are seeking a first-round pick for Aiyuk’s services, a request deemed excessive by one executive whose team is in need of a receiver.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have assured another wide receiver, Deebo Samuel, that he will not be traded. This comes after significant trade rumors surrounding Samuel, with speculation that the team could not afford to retain both him and Aiyuk on expensive contracts.
