49ers GM John Lynch Addresses Brandon Aiyuk Trade Rumors, Expresses Desire for Long-Term Extension

The San Francisco 49ers remain committed to signing wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a long-term contract extension, according to general manager John Lynch. Lynch addressed the Aiyuk situation during his annual pre-draft press conference on Monday, emphasizing that the team wants the receiver to remain with the 49ers for the rest of his career.

Despite rumors of trade interest, Lynch stated that it would take a significant offer to convince the 49ers to part ways with Aiyuk. He noted that the team has been engaged in “good talks” with Aiyuk’s representatives and that they are confident a deal can be reached.

Lynch also acknowledged that the 49ers have received calls from other teams about Aiyuk but declined to comment on reports that the team has given Aiyuk’s representatives permission to gauge interest around the league.

Lynch expressed a desire to finalize contract extensions earlier in the offseason, learning from the experience of last year’s negotiations with defensive end Nick Bosa, which weren’t finalized until just before the start of the regular season.
