6 of Family Among 7 Injured as SUV Hits Truck, Overturns in Ludhiana

At least seven individuals, including six from the same family, were injured on Wednesday morning when a Toyota Innova vehicle collided with a truck and turned over on the national highway near Daheru Bridge in Khanna. Although the specific cause of the accident remains under investigation, authorities suspect that the driver of the Innova may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Sadak Surakhya Force personnel arrived at the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sukhdev Singh, who is heading the investigation, confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. The driver of the Innova and two others sustained significant injuries and were hospitalized, while the remaining victims suffered minor injuries and received first aid on site. Balbir Singh, a resident of Shahkot in Jalandhar, his 14-year-old daughter, and Jatinder Singh, the driver from Daulatpur village, are reportedly in stable condition. The family was returning to Shahkot after dropping off their daughter at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, where she boarded a flight to pursue her studies abroad. As they approached Daheru Bridge, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with the truck and overturn. Bystanders rushed to the scene and assisted in a rescue operation. Sadak Surakhya Force personnel arrived shortly after and, after providing initial first aid, transported the injured to the hospital. Sadar Khanna Police arrived at the scene upon being notified and began their investigation. Sadar Khanna Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Hardeep Singh stated that following the recording of statements from the injured parties, the police would file a First Information Report (FIR).
