7 Days to Die Exits Early Access, Console Players Must Re-Purchase to Access 1.0 Update

After spending nearly a decade in Early Access, 7 Days to Die is finally ready to graduate to version 1.0. The developer, The Fun Pimps, has announced that the game will leave Early Access on PC in June 2023. Along with this major milestone, the price of 7 Days to Die will also increase to $45.

The 1.0 update will bring a wealth of new content and features to 7 Days to Die, including new biomes, weapons, and enemies. The game’s performance and stability have also been improved.

Console players, however, will not be able to access the 1.0 update for free. The Fun Pimps has confirmed that the original console ports of 7 Days to Die will be delisted and no longer supported. Console players who want to experience the 1.0 update will have to re-purchase the game on Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5.

This news has been met with mixed reactions from the community. Some players are understanding of the situation, blaming Telltale Games’ bankruptcy for the lack of support for the original console ports. Others are less charitable, arguing that players who purchased the game years ago should not have to pay again for access to future updates.

Regardless of the controversy, The Fun Pimps has stated that they plan to support both the PC and console versions of 7 Days to Die for years to come. Hopefully, this time the console ports will not be left behind after just a year.
