The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a 104-101 loss to the New York Knicks on Monday night, falling 0-2 behind in their first-round playoff series.
Despite a strong performance from Joel Embiid, who finished with 34 points and 10 rebounds, the Sixers were unable to hold onto a five-point lead with less than a minute remaining. The Knicks tied the game with a 3-pointer, and the Sixers were unable to score on their final possession.
Coach Nick Nurse attempted to call a timeout late in the game, but officials denied him. The Sixers will file a complaint with the league office over the officiating in Game 1 and 2.
The Sixers were also disadvantaged by two calls in Game 1, according to the league’s L2M report.
Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 35 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks’ offense with 24 points.
The Sixers will look to avoid a sweep when they host the Knicks in Game 3 on Thursday at Wells Fargo Center.
