An 87-year-old Edgewater woman was struck and killed by an SUV Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The woman was hit on the first block of Dempsey Avenue at 12:05 p.m., Edgewater police said Monday. She was first treated at the scene and then brought to an area hospital, where she died of her injuries.
The Edgewater woman’s identity was not released because family notifications have not been completed, Chief Donald Martin said.
The SUV driver — a 58-year-old man — stayed at the scene. He has not been charged or issued a summonses. The investigation is ongoing.
