An 87-year-old woman lost her life on Tuesday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision in Wetaskiwin County, as confirmed by the RCMP on Wednesday. Breton RCMP responded to a serious collision around 2:15 p.m., involving a Dodge Ram truck and a Ford Ranger at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 22. Upon arrival, RCMP officers found Emergency Medical Services and fire services already at the scene. According to the RCMP, the driver of the Ford Ranger, an 87-year-old woman, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 36-year-old man, sustained no injuries.
The RCMP’s initial investigation suggests that the Dodge Ram was traveling northbound on Highway 22 when it collided with the Ford Ranger, which entered the intersection. The collision remains under investigation, but the RCMP has extended their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
