Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has announced the title of his next film with Rajinikanth as ‘Coolie’. Sharing the over-three-minute title teaser on Monday, Lokesh also shared posters featuring Rajinikanth.
The teaser showcases several people working with gold in a factory. One of the workers receives a call about an unknown person breaching security, prompting them to be cautious. However, as he walks outside with a gold chain to confront the person, he is beaten up instead.
Intense fight sequences between Rajinikanth’s character and the workers follow, with the entire teaser shot in black and white, highlighting only the gold color. The film marks Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Lokesh and is produced by Sun Pictures.
Fans reacted with excitement to the teaser, praising the collaboration between Lokesh, music director Anirudh Ravichander, and Rajinikanth. The film’s cast and crew beyond Rajinikanth are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth was last seen in his daughter Aishwarya’s directorial ‘Lal Salaam’ earlier this year. He is currently shooting for Vettaiyan with director TJ Gnanavel, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati.
Lokesh, known for his successful 2022 film ‘Vikram’ with Kamal Haasan, followed it up with the 2023 film ‘Leo’ with Vijay. He recently made his acting debut with Shruti Haasan’s song ‘Inimel’. Apart from ‘Coolie’, Lokesh also has ‘Kaithi 2’ with Karthi in the pipeline.
