Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Coventry City has done little to quell speculation about manager Erik ten Hag’s future at the club, according to former England star Alan Shearer.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said: “I just get the feeling that even winning the FA Cup is not going to be enough for him.” The thrilling match ended 3-3 after 120 minutes and it was United who ultimately prevailed, 4-2 on penalties.
Shearer’s comments come amid a difficult period for ten Hag, with United having been eliminated from the Champions League and Carabao Cup in recent weeks. The team’s inconsistent form has led to questions about ten Hag’s suitability for the role.
It remains to be seen whether United’s board will share Shearer’s assessment of ten Hag’s situation. However, the manager’s future is likely to remain uncertain until the end of the season.
