Spring Break on Tybee Island outside Savannah, GA, turned chaotic as several violent fights broke out, despite increased police presence. Thousands flocked to the annual Orange Crush gathering, and it didn’t take long for chaos to ensue.
Videos from the party weekend show countless intoxicated attendees behaving recklessly. A group of women were seen wailing on each other, with one fighter ripping the bathing suit top off another. Few intervened in the brawl, instead choosing to film it on their phones.
Beachgoers also trashed the island’s picturesque beaches, littering the sand and ocean with garbage.
Tybee Island had increased its police presence for the Spring Break weekend, with cops stationed at all road points. However, the heightened security failed to deter the rowdy crowds.
Major Bob Holley of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources attempted to paint a more peaceful picture of the weekend, claiming the increased police presence created a safer environment. However, videos and eyewitness accounts on social media contradict this assessment.
