West Ham United Eye Ruben Amorim to Replace David Moyes
West Ham United have initiated talks with Ruben Amorim, the manager of Portuguese league leaders Sporting Lisbon, as a potential successor to David Moyes. Moyes’ contract expires at the end of the season, and his departure from the club seems likely.
Amorim, 39, has emerged as a leading candidate, particularly after becoming the favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. He is said to be the top choice of West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, who has spearheaded discussions with potential candidates.
While Amorim is receptive to the idea of taking over at West Ham, he is taking his time to weigh his options. A release clause exists in his contract with Sporting Lisbon, making a potential move feasible.
Other managers reportedly under consideration by West Ham include Julen Lopetegui, Paulo Fonseca, and Christophe Galtier. Fonseca was previously admired by the club, and Galtier was close to becoming manager a year ago before opting to join Al-Duhail in Qatar.
Former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Hansi Flick has also attended a game at the London Stadium this season.
It is worth noting that no formal contract offers have been made to any potential managers at this stage.
