Melissa McCarthy, renowned for her roles in films like ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘The Heat,’ has voiced her perplexity over the relentless criticism faced by Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
McCarthy emphasized her dismay at the negative treatment Meghan receives, stating that it saddens her for “every woman and every person” who faces such unwarranted attacks. She believes that Meghan’s intelligence and individuality have made her a target for some.
In a recent interview with Page Six, McCarthy, 53, expressed her admiration for Meghan, calling her “wonderful” and “awesome.” She had previously collaborated with the Duchess on a 2021 video celebrating Meghan’s 40th birthday.
McCarthy’s defense of Meghan comes amidst backlash over the couple’s decision to continue working on Netflix projects despite the ongoing hardships faced by the Royal Family, including the health concerns of Princess Kate Middleton and King Charles.
Despite criticism from some quarters, including royal commentator Lizzie Cundy, who has accused the Sussexes of insensitivity, McCarthy maintains her support for Meghan and believes that the criticism she receives is undeserved.
