Walmart is expanding its partnership with Fox Robotics to incorporate 19 FoxBot Class 1 electric forklifts into its distribution center operations. These fully autonomous vehicles are intended to reduce the manual labor involved in loading docks.
The decision is based on a successful 16-month proof of concept. Walmart associates are currently undergoing training to operate the FoxBots.
Marin Tchakarov, CEO of Fox Robotics, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s ongoing relationship with Walmart.
Despite ongoing labor shortages in logistics and construction, Walmart’s adoption of AI-driven forklifts has been met with mixed reactions. While some may view it as anti-labor, the reality is more complex. The hope remains that individuals desiring employment will find opportunities, and robots can supplement their efforts.
