Baileys Run Road in East Deer will undergo a long-term partial closure for construction starting May 6. The project, which will cost approximately $1.5 million, will be completed by Plum-based Pugliano Construction Co. and is expected to last through October.
The closure will be in two phases. The first phase, beginning May 6, will target the 400 block of Baileys Run and is expected to last through July. During this phase, several hundred feet of retaining wall will be replaced just beyond the Route 28 on-ramp.
The second phase of the project will target the 200 block of Baileys Run. The exact start date for this phase has not yet been announced. This phase will include similar projects, including a retaining wall, paving, and drainage.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured using Russellton Airport Road onto Butler Logan Road, then Crawford Run and Freeport roads.
The project is necessary to address ongoing issues with the road, including drainage problems and the need for a retaining wall. Township commissioner Tony Taliani, who lives along the stretch of road that will be closed, acknowledges the inconvenience but believes the project will be worth it in the long run.
