PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday criticized the excessive police deployment by the Tamil Nadu government in anticipation of protests against the construction of the Vallalar International Centre in Peruveli, Vadalur village in Cuddalore district.
In a statement, Ramadoss called the mobilization condemnable, stating that the government should consider alternative sites for the construction. He pointed out that the Madras High Court had questioned the government’s plans due to a pending case against the project and emphasized the need to respect the sentiments of Vallallar devotees.
Ramadoss highlighted the ongoing protests against the international center since April 7 and condemned the arrest of protestors by the police. He accused the government of breaking its promise to postpone the construction and restarting it without consulting the local community after the Lok Sabha poll. He warned that the government’s actions would lead to consequences from the people.
