2024 NFL Draft: Projecting the Cowboys’ Picks and Their Potential Impact
The 2024 NFL Draft is finally upon us, and the Dallas Cowboys are eager to make the most of this opportunity. After a disappointing free agency period and losing several key starters, the Cowboys have a chance to revamp their roster with their seven draft picks.
Round 1:
Graham Barton, OG, BYU
Barton is the top interior line prospect in the draft and would immediately become the Cowboys’ best player at center since Travis Frederick. With his agility, power, and IQ, Barton would be a major upgrade for the Dallas offense.
Round 2:
Jonathon Brooks, RB, LSU
The Cowboys desperately need a starting running back, and Brooks is considered the best option in this year’s draft. Brooks has excellent speed, acceleration, and agility, making him an ideal fit for Mike McCarthy’s offense.
Round 3:
Jake Rosengarten, OT, Washington
Despite playing mostly at right tackle in college, Rosengarten has the versatility to play left tackle in the NFL. He is solid in all aspects of his game, including pass protection, quick feet, and strong hands.
Round 5:
Daniel Wallace, LB, Washington
Wallace is an explosive athlete who can make plays sideline to sideline. He also has some pass-rushing ability. The Cowboys have a need at linebacker, and Wallace could potentially fill that void.
Round 6:
Marquis Jackson, DT, Florida
Jackson is a big, run-stuffing defensive tackle who could help the Cowboys against the run. He has the potential to be a solid rotational piece in the middle of the Dallas defense.
Round 7:
Joseph Harrell, OLB, Michigan
Harrell is a situational pass rusher with good length, burst, and a feel for blitzing. He could contribute on special teams as well.
Round 7:
Miles Harrell, WR, Louisville
Harrell is a speedster who could provide the Cowboys’ offense with some much-needed explosiveness. He doesn’t have much production to show for it, but he has the potential to be a deep threat for the Cowboys.
These are just projections, and the Cowboys may end up making different selections based on how the draft unfolds. However, these picks would address several of the Cowboys’ most pressing needs and help the team improve significantly for the 2024 season.
